Join A Club Near You
The best way to learn more about Saint Bernards is to become a member of a Saint Bernard club near you. Most clubs will have members with experience in showing their dogs in conformation, obedience, draft work, weight pulling, and many other interesting and fun aspects of owning a Saint. You will find club members eager to help you get started in your favorite activity.
Many clubs conduct specialty shows once or twice a year. The show is sanctioned by the AKC and is open to anyone with an AKC registered Saint Bernards. Some clubs also conduct obedience trials and other events as part of their specialty show. In addition to the specialty show, some clubs conduct "matches". A match is a less formal dog show that provides a way for the dogs and handlers to gain experience in the show ring without the pressure of competing for "points".
To get started, find a club near you shown in the list. Call or email the club secretary and find out when and where the club meets. If the club is conducting a match or a specialty show soon, plan to attend the show and get to know some of the members
